The Poppyseed Headband was one of three designs I created for Stitch Up Chicago 2025! This simple knitted headband or ear warmer features a variation of the seed stitch for amazing texture thatโs beginner-friendly. Now I get to share it with everyone – stitch your own quick and easy headband with the knit pattern below!

Made in Caron Simply Me
To create the Poppyseed Twist Headband, I used Caron Simply Me, which is a bulky weight yarn with 18% wool and lots of warmth. Using only about 50 yards of yarn, you can make several items from one skein, or do some stash busting. This pattern is perfect for craft fairs and stitching ahead of time – small and portable!
Featuring beautiful texture created with simple stitches, this headband has just the right amount of stretch and squish to keep you comfy and cute all year long! It probably looks familiar – the Blueberry Twist Headband is the crochet version, designed for the same event! I’m an intermediate knitter, so this is definitely a beginner-friendly pattern!
Make it in ANY Size!
This headband can be made to any size, and the fabric is indeed very stretchy. It’s easy to just wrap it around where you want to wear it and see when the size is just right for you! If you don’t have the head you’re knitting for handy, there are some measurements included in the written pattern below.

Whether you’re whipping one up for yourself, making last-minute gifts, or stocking your craft fair booth, the Poppyseed Twist Headband pattern is a go-to you’ll come back to again and again.
Grab your needles, yarn, and stitch your way to effortless style!
