Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 9

My Notes: I’ve been admiring Courtney’s projects for a while, so I’m thrilled that she has decided to join us for the crochet along this year! The Berries and Cream Blanket Square is worked in rows. Whether they are side to side or top down or bottom up is up to you! You can orient this one in your blanket however you like. The pattern itself is fun and quick to make, with lots of color layout possibilities. In the photos, both squares are shown with the stitching in the same direction – what a different color makes!

I do recommend that you check your measurements after Row 1, to make sure it won’t turn out too wide. Now is the chance to eliminate one of the repeats if necessary – but it will be drastic, so be sure! At the end, while working the edging, I found that my square was rippling a bit along the sides. So I reduced the number of stitches along each side to 32, and found that it laid nice and flat after that. Such a fun square!

Sizing: I got to size as written. But everyone’s gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.

What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Color A and Edging: Black
Rows 1 – 5 B: Merlot
Rows 6 – 11 B: Mallard
Rows 12 – 17 B: Boysenberry
Rows 18 – 23 B: Cornsilk
Rows 24 – 27 B: Merlot
Row 28: Black

This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method.
