Above you can see the square that Lindsey made in 3 colors! Below is my CAL square, in my 5 colors of Red Heart With Love – Merlot, Mallard, Boysenberry, Cornsilk, and Black.
Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 18
My Notes: The Geometric Eye Crochet Blanket Square is simple, but it’s also a great study of what you can do with simple stitches. Rounds of single and double crochet are embellished with surface crochet and chains to excellent effect! It’s mesmerizing! Lindsey is a talented designer and tech editor, so her instructions are well-written and easy to follow.

Sizing: I got to 12″ after Rnd 12, so I omitted Rnd 13. But everyone’s gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.
What I Did:
I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnd 2: Black
Rnd 3: Cornsilk
Rnd 4: Black
Rnd 5: Boysenberry
Rnd 6: Black
Rnd 7: Mallard
Rnd 8: Black
Rnd 9: Merlot

Rnd 13: Skipped for size
Inner Ring: Mallard
Middle Ring: Black
Outer Ring: Boysenberry
This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method
