My Notes: The Daylily Crochet Square is straightforward but never boring! Almost every row brings a new and different stitch pattern to enjoy. The written pattern is easy to follow, and this one should be do-able by all skill levels – though I encourage newbies to check out the linked tutorials below! One last note – you will have to work back into the slip stitches that you make in Rnd 3 – so be sure to work them loosely (there’s a tutorial below for that too)!

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations, Magic Circle, Dc2tog, Working into Slip Stitches, Standing Single Crochet, EDC/EXDC – Extended Double Crochet, Tr, Standing Double Crochet, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, and seamless join.

Sizing: I got the right size with this pattern as written. But everyone’s gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.

What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnds 1 – 3: Cornsilk
Rnd 4:
Boysenberry
Rnd 5:
Cornsilk
Rnd 6:
Boysenberry
Rnd 7:
Cornsilk
Rnds 8 and 9:
Boysenberry
Rnds 10 and 11:
Mallard
Rnd 12:
Merlot
Rnd 13:
Mallard
Rnd 14:
Merlot
Rnd 15:
Mallard
Rnd 16:
Black

This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method
