My Notes: Pia has designed a wonderful and unique center-out square featuring the Jasmine stitch, among a bunch of others! I have long admired this stitch, but hadn’t gotten to try it out yet, so I was very pleased to see this one. And it was a challenge I enjoyed! The instructions are easy to follow if you read carefully and slowly, and there are lots of charts to help as well.
One tricky stitch to take note of is the 2 Puff Cluster. For this stitch, we are instructed to “hold working yarn with the non-hook hand and pull through all 13 loops on hook”. We are then instructed to work back into that bit of loop we’ve held onto. This is made a LOT easier with a stitch marker! Put a marker around that loop before you pull the yarn through, and it won’t be able to slip all the way through the stitch. This makes it a breeze to work back into – and then remove the loop for the next one!
This square is a whole stitch adventure, and you’ll learn a lot as you go!

Sizing: My square was getting a bit big, so to get to 12″, I used the alternate Rnd 13 and skipped the border as directed. But everyone’s gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.
What I Did:
I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnds 1 – 3: Cornsilk
Rnds 4 – 7: Boysenberry
Rnds 8 – 10: Mallard
Rnds 11 and 12: Merlot
Alt Rnd 13: Black
This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method
