Block #1:

Jacob’s Treasure Square

Above you can see the square that she made, featuring 3 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors! (I’m doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year!)

The Details for Square #1

My Notes: Right off the bat, Jessie is here to challenge our crochet skills! The stitches themselves are simple – though I do recommend you check out her tutorial for the dch2, as it’s just right for this pattern. The square itself is almost all double crochets and chains, so just take your time with it. Use a bookmark or something to help you go line by line, and make sure you are somewhere you can concentrate. And the good news – Jessie is great about both video and photo tutorials, and there’s a whole Facebook group to help too! Don’t let this one intimidate you, just go one step at a time.

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Jessie is providing a video tutorial for this square, so all I have to add to this list are Braiding Crochet Loops and Seamless Finishing.

Sizing: My square got to 12″ after Rnd 11, so I skipped Rnd 12. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

What I Did: I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnds 1 – 5: Holly Berry
Rnds 6 – 9:
Light Gray
Rnds 10 and 11:
White (Rnd 12 skipped for size)

This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
