The Details

My Notes: Jennifer has created a wonderful square from us, inspired by the moon. (Am I the only one who has been seeing moon stuff everywhere lately?!) The last few rounds are simple, so you can stop or add as needed to get to size. I ended up skipping one final repeat before the last round myself. For that final round, I did change the corners to (sc, ch 2, sc) because I know that will work best with my joining method.

This pattern also allows you to keep going bigger and bigger if desired! While she kept the pattern simple, I’ve included links to stitches below that you can sub in as desired; this includes the magic circle, standing stitches, and chainless stitches!

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic CircleStanding Single Crochet, Post Stitches, Standing Post Stitches, Front Loop Only and Back Loop Only, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, and Seamless Finishing.

Sizing: I eliminated Rnd 13 to get to 12″. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

What I Did: I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnds 1 and 2: White
Rnd 3:
Light Gray
Rnd 4:
Pewter
Rnd 5:
White
Rnd 6:
Light Gray
Rnd 7:
Pewter
Rnd 8:
White
Rnd 9:
Light Gray
Rnd 10:
Pewter
Rnd 11:
White
Rnd 12:
Light Gray
Rnd 13:
Pewter
Rnd 14: White

This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
