Hello, beautiful soul! I’m so excited to share two versions of the gorgeous, knitted Gwendolyn sweater pattern with you today! I just love it so much, and I hope you do, too. Read on to learn all about it!

Knit Two Versions of This Gorgeous Sweater – Gwendolyn – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Gwendolyn was designed by Jane Vanselous. When asked about her sweater Jane said, “The slip stitch patterns in this sweater provide for a lot of texture, with minimal effort. The knitter needs only to work one color at a time to achieve the intricate looking yoke and sleeve detailing. Utilizing the slip stitch pattern along the sides creates a slight curve to the hem. Designed to fall just below the high hip, this sweater may easily be altered to any length.”

“The construction is top down, beginning with an integrated neckband. German Short Rows are used to shape the neckline, followed by the mosaic yoke. Here, the knitter should check that they have a good fit, and then divide the stitches to complete the remainder of the body. Returning to the on-hold stitches, each sleeve is completed individually.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include knitting in the round, German Short Rows, and mosaic colorwork.

The Gwendolyn sweater pattern comes in 10 sizes, which correspond to finished bust sizes of 31 (33, 37, 41) (45, 49, 53) (57, 61, 65)” / 79 (84, 94, 104) (114, 124, 135) (145, 155, 165) cm. The sweater is designed to be worn with 3 – 5” (8 – 13 cm) of positive ease in the bust. Both of the samples shown here are a Size 3, modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust with 3” (8 cm) of positive ease.

Both samples used our Twisted Tweed Sport yarn, which is a wonderfully soft and bouncy, unique fiber blend that includes two types of wool that are twisted together, which results in a cool, barber pole effect with gold, plum and brown Donegal Tweed neps. This yarn base is both earthy, homey, and charming, as well as hip and modern, and the colors are out of this world! Twisted Tweed Sport is a blend of 43% Superwash Merino Wool, 42% Fine Merino Wool, and 15% Donegal with 384 yds/351 m per skein. I adore this yarn base for super sweet sweaters and snuggly accessories, shawls, blankets, and more!

The first version shown here used colors: A) Laguna, B) Hoot, C) Heart Chakra, and D) Throat Chakra Twisted Tweed Sport.

The second version shown here used colors: A) Plum Blossom, B) Deep Fox, C) Firekissed, and D) Leaves Twisted Tweed Sport. You will need 2 – 4 skeins of Color A and 1 skein EACH of Colors B, C, and D for all sizes. Additional yardage/meterage information is included in the pattern.
