Hello, my lil’ buttercup! This week, I have a super cute, knitted shrug that is absolutely perfect for keeping you warm on a cool evening or adding just a bit of warmth to your shoulders and arms. I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about it.
Chamfered was designed by Candy Key. When asked about this pattern, Candy said, “Chamfered is a unique shrug in that it is knitted in two colors with each sleeve a different color. The two colors meet in the back of the shrug and form a diagonal. The boundary between the two colors at the back of the shrug creates a 45º angled edge called a chamfer. The hand-crafting or knitting process to create these edges is basically called chamfered. This angled edge is used with various materials and is very common in mirrors. Since one side of this shrug mimics the other, the shrug has a mirrored effect.”
“With two different sleeve colors, this shrug is fun to wear. When you wear Chamfered, people will have to circle you or have you turn around to figure out why there are two sleeve colors and how the shrug changes in the back. Enjoy the attention Chamfered brings you!”
This Intermediate level pattern is for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Seed Stitch, working with two strands, and alternating yarns throughout the pattern.
Chamfered was knitted with our luscious Buttery Sport yarn, which is squishy, bouncy, and buttery! What’s not to love about this super soft, lush, and cuddly sport-weight yarn that’s also machine washable? Made from 100% Superwash Superfine Merino Wool, this two-ply yarn produces fat, full stitches and has 300 yds/274 m per skein. No itchiness or scratchiness here! Use this fun, boingy yarn to make soft, supple projects that work up quickly.
The sample shown here was made with two skeins EACH of colors Flic-Floc Buttery Sport (A) and Casse-Cou Buttery Sport (B) and is a size XS, modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust.
Chamfered is offered in sizes: XS: 52”/132 cm; S: 54”/137 cm; M: 56”/142 cm; L: 58”/147 cm; XL: 59”/150 cm; 2XL: 60”/152 cm; 3XL: 61”/155 cm; 4XL: 63”/160 cm. Sizing is determined by measuring the length from one wrist, across the shoulders, to the other wrist. This shrug is designed to be worn with 4”/10 cm of positive ease. All sizes require two skeins EACH of two colors of Buttery Sport yarn.
