Hello, sweet soul! Today, I have a gorgeous, knitted sweater pattern that I think you’re going to love making and wearing! The Ashlynn sweater is a customizable design that can be knitted as either a cardigan or a top. With its stunning lace, plunging V-neck, and soft, draping style, you’ll want to knit Ashlynn in more than one color and style! Keep reading to learn all about it.
Ashlynn was designed by Patricia Liefeld. When asked about this pattern, Patricia said, “Named after my oldest granddaughter Ashlynn, this design is creative, adventurous, and fun. You can either make it as a top or a light cardigan. Ashlynn is a mixture of garter and lace stitches. The edging is a three-stitch I-cord, which gives a nice, clean look. The sleeves are knitted separately, and then below-bust and body stitches are picked up along the sleeve edges. This pattern is customizable, and I hope you’ll love making it.”
This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include garment sizing, working from written instructions and charts, lace stitches, and blocking techniques.
The Ashlynn sweater comes in sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL), which correspond to finished bust sizes of 28-30” (32-34”, 36-38”, 40-42”, 44-46”) (48-50”, 52-54”) /71-76 (81-86, 91-97, 102-107, 112-117) (122-127, 132–137) cm. Ashlynn can be knitted as a top or a cardigan, both of which are customizable.
Our top version of the Ashlynn pattern was knitted with color Captain Oasis Camel Silk Fingering. Our luxurious Oasis Camel Silk Fingering is an exotic, sultry blend of 50% Camel and 50% Mulberry Silk for incredible softness and shimmer! When you want to treat yourself, this is the way to go! Wonderful for heirloom or wedding shawls, other wraps, scarves, sweaters, and so much more with 500 yds (457 m) per 3-ply skein.
You’ll need two to three skeins of Oasis Camel Silk Fingering to make the top version, depending on the size you select.
Our cardigan version of Ashlynn was knitted in Black Tulip CashSilk Sock. Our sumptuous CashSilk Sock yarn is a gorgeous blend of 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Silk. It’s a dreamy soft, luxurious sock yarn that’s warm, cuddly, squishy, and strong with the tiniest hint of glow. It has a 4-ply structure that results in round, beautifully defined stitches, which is perfect for long-wearing items like sweaters and socks! CashSilk Sock has 410 yds/375 m per skein.
You’ll need three to four skeins of CashSilk Sock to make the cardigan version, depending on the size you select. Both versions are shown modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust. You’ll find additional measurements and yardage/meterage information in the pattern.
We filmed a video demonstrating how to work a few rows of the I-cord edge. Take a look!
