Above you can see the square that she made, featuring 5 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors! (I’m doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year. This is my second yellow one as I work through the rainbow!)

The Details for Square #5

My Notes: Light, springy, and floral – the Sweet and Fair Afghan Square is perfect for March! This is a quick and relatively simple pattern, one you can work up in an evening or two. Only 10 rounds gets you through the whole square, so if you haven’t jumped in yet, this is a good one to get started on! Julie’s directions are great and easy to follow, and each round brings the opportunity for new color choices!

Helpful Links and Tutorials: This square uses lots of clusters and decreases, gathered up with post stitches  – love the clean color change effect this gives! These tutorials may help: Magic Circle, CSDC in the ring, CSTR, Post Stitches, Decreases, and Seamless Finishing.

Sizing: My square was getting a bit big, so I skipped Rnd 9 and worked Rnd 10 as hdc instead of dc. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnd 1: White
Rnd 2:
Cornsilk
Rnd 3:
White
Rnd 4:
Light Grey
Rnd 5:
White
Rnd 6 and 7:
Cornsilk
Rnd 8:
Light Grey
Rnd 9:
skipped for size
Rnd 10:
White

This square required a mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method.
