Hello, my lil’ snickerdoodle! I’m so happy you stopped by today because I’m thrilled to announce that our Summer 2025 Choose Your Own Adventure Crochet Along is starting soon! We’ll join together on Ravelry to crochet the Appetency cowl and shawl pattern, which you’ll customize based on the unique options you choose along the way. And of course, there will be prizes at the end of the 10-week Crochet Along, so I hope you’ll keep reading to learn how you can sign up and join in on all of the fun!
Appetency was designed by Janica York Carter. When asked about her pattern, Janica said, “Choose your own adventure! I loved seeing those words on a book cover when I was a kid. These clever stories were written so that at the end of each chapter, the reader could choose an option about how the story should progress. Your choice determined what chapter you read next. The mix-and-match possibilities meant one book could tell a story many ways.”
“Chandi challenged me to interpret that very phrase, ‘choose your own adventure,’ into a knit or crochet pattern. That was the first choice: knit or crochet? And I chose both so that everyone could join in the fun! I’ve provided fourteen stitch patterns that each represent a possible aspect of an adventure. As you answer the following questions, your choices will take you on your journey to create a design that is uniquely yours. Let’s get started!”
This is a Beginner to Intermediate level pattern and is for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. The level of difficulty will be based on the stitch patterns selected.
Whether you choose to crochet Appetency as a cowl or wrap, you’ll need five colors of our stunning Oasis Camel Silk Fingering yarn, which is an exotic, decadent blend of 50% Camel fiber and 50% Mulberry Silk that feels like a dream and glows with an irresistible, silken shine. Picture yourself wrapped in something extraordinary: heirloom-quality shawls, elegant scarves, cozy sweaters… The possibilities are endless! This yarn glides effortlessly on your needles and hooks, making every stitch a joy to create. The way this fiber blend produces rich, saturated colors is simply mesmerizing, and with a generous 500 yds/457 m per skein, there’s no limit to where your creativity can take you.
