Hello, sweet pea! This week, I have a casually comfy, knitted pullover pattern that I’m delighted to share with you! Keep reading to learn all about this week’s lovely design!
Bluegrass was designed by Becca Leith. When asked about her pattern, Becca said, “The name of this pattern, Bluegrass, is inspired by the texture and colors of the Blue Grass Guppy. The sleeve texture reminds me of the guppy’s scaled body, and the body texture reminds me of the guppy’s smooth, yet textured fins!”
“This simple, yet fun-to-knit sweater pattern is designed to keep your warmth and comfort in mind, as it is knit with yarn held double and has 6″ (15 cm) of positive ease. These aspects combined allow for an oversized and comforting fit that is perfect for cold winters or even when you just want to snuggle up in something that you made! The sweater is knit top-down in the round and is easily adjustable for body and sleeve length by doing more or less repeats of the pattern. The body does not have any shaping, but the sleeves are tapered.”
This Intermediate to Advanced level pattern is for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills include Long-Tail Cast On, Italian Bind Off, working in the back loops, increases and decreases, slipped stitches, and German Short Rows. You must be able to work from charts.
Bluegrass is knitted with our luscious Buttery Sport yarn, which is squishy, bouncy, and buttery! What’s not to love about this super soft, lush, and cuddly sport-weight yarn that’s also machine washable? Made from 100% Superwash Superfine Merino Wool, this two-ply yarn produces fat, full stitches. No itchiness or scratchiness here! Use this fun, boingy yarn to make soft, supple projects that work up quickly. Buttery Sport has 300 yds/274 m per skein.
The pattern is offered in sizes XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL) (4XL, 5XL). This pattern is meant to be worn with 5-7″ / 13-18 cm of positive ease. You’ll need 4 – 8 skeins of EACH color of Buttery Sport, depending on the size you select. The yarn is held double throughout this pattern.
Our sample was knitted with one strand of Black Cat Buttery Sport and one strand of Fluorite Buttery Sport held double and is a size Small, modeled on a 34” (86 cm bust).
